Correction: Meltdown-Selling Makeup

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — In a June 12 story about professionals who have taken a second job in direct sales amid the recession, The Associated Press reported erroneously how companies compensate for recruiting others to sales jobs. Legitimate direct sales companies may allow representatives to earn a commission from the sales of people they have recruited but the companies do not pay for recruiting new sales agents, according to Amy Robinson, a spokeswoman for the Direct Selling Association trade group.
