Trucker YRC Pledges Real Estate To Pension Fund

In a note to clients Thursday, Robert Baird analyst Jon A. Lagenfeld upgraded shares of two of YRC Worldwide's competitors, Con-way Inc. and Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., saying that a YRC bankruptcy filing is becoming increasingly likely.

"While a YRC bankruptcy may take several months or quarters to play out, recent trends suggest that the outcome will eventually occur," he wrote.

Lagenfeld predicts the company could file within nine months, as it appears that the trucker is slashing prices rapidly to save business, quickly burning through cash and not showing signs of a seasonal pickup like at other carriers in the industry.

Shares of YRC lost 16 cents, or 7.4 percent, to $2.01 in morning trading.
