GOP NJ Lawmakers To Channel Budget Discontent

 

Jeanne Rausch, who is 68 and working part-time because she cannot afford to retire, said she would leave New Jersey, but does not want to sell her home of 33 years in a depressed real estate market.

"My property taxes are more than my Social Security check," the Middletown Republican said. "It's impossible to stay, yet you can't leave."

Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Lou Greenwald, D-Voorhees, said the state budget reflects the same types of "painful realities and solutions" families are facing amid the recession.
