Last week, the San Diego-based company said one of its subsidiaries will begin producing its newest innovation from a plant in Taiwan. Called a mirasol display, it's meant to replace LCD screens found on typical mobile devices. The mirasols save power by reflecting ambient light. Typical displays today use power in illuminating their own backlight as a source.
"Emerging technologies such as mirasol displays have the power to influence the entire wireless value chain," CEO Paul Jacobs said in a release last week. "As we continue to demand more from our mobile devices, it is clear that the display not only is increasingly influencing the consumers' experience but also is driving the total power efficiency of the device."- Loading Comments...
