SkyWest May Traffic Edges Down

ST. GEORGE (AP) — SkyWest Inc., operator of SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, said Tuesday that combined traffic edged down in May.

The company recorded 1.47 billion revenue passenger miles last month, a 1.2 percent decline from the same month a year ago.

A revenue passenger mile is a unit measuring one paying passenger flown one mile.

Capacity dropped 2.8 percent to 1.83 billion available seat miles.

Load factor, a measure of occupancy, rose 1.2 percentage points to 80.1 percent compared with 78.9 percent for the same period last year.

Year-to-date, combined traffic fell 6.2 percent to 6.69 billion revenue passenger miles. Capacity fell 6.6 percent to 8.74 billion available seat miles, and load factor edged up 0.3 percent to 76.6 percent from 75.2 percent.
