St. Jude Buys Northstar Neuroscience For $2M
NEW YORK (AP) — St. Jude Medical Inc. said Monday it bought Northstar Neuroscience Inc., a company that makes electronic implants that stimulate the brain, for $2 million.
Seattle-based Northstar makes cortical stimulation implants for depression, stroke and other neurological ailments. The device consists of an electrode placed over specific area of the brain, which is connected to a neurostimulator implanted the chest of the patient. Minneapolis-based St. Jude said the deal will not affect its profit this year. In afternoon trading, shares of St. Jude were unchanged at $39.48.- Loading Comments...
