Phoenix Cos. Names John Mulrain As General Counsel

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Phoenix Cos. on Monday named John T. Mulrain as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective June 30.

Mulrain takes over for Tracy L. Rich, who is leaving the Hartford, Conn.-based property and casualty insurer and financial company to become general counsel at The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

Mulrain, 59, has been with the Phoenix since 1992. He is currently vice president and counsel, focusing on investments and portfolio management.

As general counsel, he will be responsible for all company legal responsibilities.

Phoenix shares fell 4 cents to $1.95 in afternoon trading.
