Wind River Systems Posts Higher 1Q Earnings
ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Wind River Systems Inc., the software maker being acquired by chip maker Intel Corp., reported 21 percent higher net income for its fiscal first quarter on Thursday, despite a dip in revenue.
The company said it earned $561,000 compared with $462,000 in the year-earlier quarter. Both figures work out to about a penny per share. Excluding one-time costs, Wind River said it would have earned 9 cents per share. Sales fell 6 percent to $82.5 million from $87.9 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting earnings of 5 cents per share on sales of $82.1 million. Wind River said it will not provide any outlook for its fiscal second quarter following Intel's decision to buy the company. Intel said Thursday it will pay $884 million in cash for Wind River, a move aimed at expanding outside the personal computer industry. The company's software is used by other software makers to develop and test their products. Wind River shares were flat in after-hours trading, after closing up $3.76, or 47 percent, at $11.76 during the regular session.- Loading Comments...
