Limited Brands Same-store Sales Decline In May

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Limited Brands Inc., which operates Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works stores, said Thursday that its same-store sales fell 7 percent in May.

The decline matched the average estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, are an important retail performance indicator because they measure sales at stores open at least a year.

For the four weeks ended May 30, total sales declined 6 percent to $618.7 million from $661.3 million in the same period a year ago.

Same-store sales declined 7 percent for the 17 weeks ending May 31, while total sales declined nearly 10 percent to $2.34 billion from $2.59 billion.

Limited operates 3,009 specialty stores nationwide.
