War Escalates Between Online Travel Brokers
Grinding out your vacation plans online just got more enticing for consumers, as another agency, Orbitz World Wide(OWW Quote), announced that it has dropped booking fees.
The move follows Expedia's(EXPE Quote) decision last week to also permanently lift booking fees and fees for travelers who cancel or change flights. Orbitz announced on Monday that it removed booking feels on domestic and international flights starting this month. The company also said if a customer books an Orbitz flight and another customer books the same flight at a lower cost, Orbitz will pay the difference. In April, Orbitz announced that it was cutting booking fees on all of its hotel bookings worldwide, if booked by July 15. Rival Priceline.com(PCLN Quote) set the stage for both moves when it eliminated its booking fees more than two years ago.- Loading Comments...
