NYSE Bank of America Corp., up $1.06 at $11.73 A prominent banking equity analyst added the bank to a list of top stock picks, saying operating profit should make up for loan losses. Lowe's Cos., up $1.49 at $19.94 The country's No. 2 home-improvement retailer posted a better-than-expected profit in the first quarter and raised its outlook for 2009. MGM Mirage, up $1.07 at $8.74 Major stockholder Kirk Kerkorian purchased 14.3 million shares, and an analyst upgraded the casino operator for a capital-raising plan.
