MannKind Says FDA Reviewing Inhaled Insulin

VALENCIA, Calif. (AP) — MannKind Corp. said Monday the Food and Drug Administration will review the biotechnology company's application for its experimental inhaled insulin Afresa.

The company is seeking approval for the drug's use in Type 1 or Type 2 diabetics to control high blood sugar levels. MannKind is developing drugs that can be inhaled and absorbed more easily with a technology called Technosphere.

Shares of MannKind rose 81 cents, or 13.9 percent, to $6.64 in midday trading. The stock has traded between $2 and $7.50 over the past 52 weeks.
