MeadWestvaco To Close Wilmington, NC, Plant

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Packaging maker MeadWestvaco Corp. said Wednesday it will close its Wilmington, N.C., beverage packaging plant by August.
The closures at the plant, which makes paperboard products, will affect about 105 salaried and hourly workers. The company, which expects to take an as-yet undetermined charge against second-quarter earnings, said it would move equipment from Wilmington to its beverage packaging plant in Lanett, Ala. Wilmington's production will shift to other company facilities. In morning trading, MeadWestvaco shares fell 78 cents, or 5 percent, to $14.79.- Loading Comments...
