The dry bulk shippers were mixed Wednesday, with Genco Shipping and Trading(GNK Quote) among the day's losers. Genco shares were recently falling 2% to $18.28. The stock, which closed Tuesday at $18.66, may be attracting short interest, according to SchaeffersResearch.com. The stock has a 52-week high of $84.51 and a 52-week low of $6.43. Investors watching for the effects of China's stimulus program may take heart in a report from Bloomberg that Chinese importing of copper rose 10% in March from the previous month. Aluminum imports also increased. According to Bloomberg, which cited Wanxiang Resources Co. analyst Sheng Weimin, lead and tin purchases also increased. Among other widely held stocks in teh dry bulk sector: Diana Shipping(DSX Quote) was down 0.3% to $15.06. Eagle Bulk(EGLE Quote) was up 2.3% to $6.62. Excel Maritime(EXM Quote) was up 3.3% to $7.23.
