Bridgepoint IPO Priced Low, but Shares Rise

Mead Johnson was the only IPO in the first quarter of 2009 and the first since Grand Canyon went public in November.

Investors are now hopeful that the eagerly awaited IPO for Rosetta Stone will be as successful or better than Bridgepoint's. The Arlington, Va.-based language-software maker is set to price shares between $15 and $17 for its $106 million IPO. Analysts expect the IPO to price Thursday, with shares trading under the ticker RST the following day.

The rise in Bridgepoint's shares Wednesday has also helped support most other education stocks. Corinthian Colleges (COCO Quote) was up 2.5%, both Apollo Group (APOL Quote) and Career Education (CECO Quote) were adding 1.7%, and DeVry (DV Quote) was up 1%.

On the other hand, Grand Canyon shares were giving back nearly 1%.
