Atwood Oceanics Rises on Gulf Contract

Shares of Atwood Oceanics(ATW Quote) got a lift Monday from news that the driller had secured a contract with Applied Drilling Technology for one well in the Gulf of Mexico.

The roughly 40-day contract calls for a day rate of $52.500 and will begin as soon as the ship, the Richmond, completes its current contract later this month or in May.

Atwood shares were recently rising 1.7% to $21.33. Diamond Offshore Drilling(DO Quote) shares were falling 0.2% to $71.27. Nabors Industries(NBR Quote) shares were down 1.6% to $12.24. Transocean(RIG Quote) shares were up 0.2% to $66.95.
