Cash America Boosts 1Q Profit Estimates

The company also saw greater-than-expected cash advance fee revenue from Internet offerings in some states that have enacted new legislation regulating such activity.
However, regulations in some states have not been implemented yet, resulting in higher revenue than expected. The changes remain pending and could reduce cash advance revenue in these states in future periods, the company said in a statement. This year's second-quarter results probably will be lower than the 2008 results because of tax stimulus checks issued last year.
