Shares of major oil companies moved higher Thursday as the stock market soared and crude oil rebounded. The Amex Oil Index finished at 903.67, up 36.21 or 4.17%. Light, sweet crude oil futures for May delivery settled at $52.64 a barrel, up $4.25 or 8.8% on the New York Mercantile Exchange. ConocoPhillips(COP Quote) shares finished at $41.45, up $1.65 or 4.2%. Royal Dutch Shell(RDS.B Quote) closed up 3.9%, or $1.72 to $45.81. BP(BP Quote) was trading at $41.64, up 3%, or $1.22 a share. Chevron(CVX Quote) finished at $70.31, higher by $2.04, or 2.9%. Exxon Mobil(XOM Quote) closed at $70.25, up $1.02 or 1.47%. Petrobras Energia(PZE Quote) was higher by 11.5%, or 66 cents to $6.39. PetroChina's(PTR Quote) American depositary shares were up 6%, or $4.90 to $85.88. Repsol(REP Quote) of Spain was higher by 5.8%, or $1.02 to $18.65.
