CHICAGO (AP) — Sun-Times Media Group Inc. says it has named a new chief financial officer, four months after the previous jobholder left in a management shakeup at the embattled newspaper publisher.

Sun-Times Media, which publishes the Chicago Sun-Times and some 70 community papers in the Chicago area, said Wednesday that it has promoted Thomas Kram, 49, to the CFO slot. Kram most recently served as the company's controller and chief accounting officer.

In November, the company announced that its chairman, several board members and the chief financial officer were all leaving their posts after two major shareholders called for a boardroom restructuring to help turn the company around.

David Martin had been serving as CFO on an interim basis after that shakeup.

Martin, 52, has been named senior vice president of business development. The company says Martin will continue to focus on cost-cutting and improving the Sun-Times' revenue.
