Sector Snap: Suppliers Of Law Enforcement Rise
Besides the federal spending targeted at law enforcement agencies, stocks of companies that sell guns, cameras and body armor to police rose with the broader market jumped.
Citigroup Inc.'s report that it operated at a profit during the first two months of the year lifted the S&P 500 index by more than 4 percent in midday trading. Taser stock rose 45 cents, or 12.2 percent, to $4.14, while Smith & Wesson climbed 35 cents, or 8 percent, to $4.71.
