The New York offices of The Wall Street Journal received a number of envelopes that contained an unidentified white powder Wednesday, the newspaper reported.
The report said city police and hazardous materials crews were on the scene and were investigating the matter. At least 10 envelopes were being kept in the mailroom of the lower Manhattan office building that houses the paper, but at least three other envelopes had already been distributed, the report indicated. According to the report, the mail was addressed to executives at the paper. The report said the floor with the paper's executives and editorial-page workers was evacuated.
