Textron's (TXT Quote) Cessna Aircraft unit is planning to cut 2,000 more workers in its second round of layoffs in recent weeks.

The airplane maker said the cuts would take place across the Kansas-based company's facilities, The Associated Press reported Monday.

"These actions are regrettable, but necessary to ensure our long-term stability and success," the AP reported, citing a Cessna email. "As always, we remain committed to keep you informed of the processes and next steps as we work through this difficult time."

Shares of Textron recently were down 7%.
