The AMEX airline index fell 2% in midday trading, with 10 of its 13 component stocks losing ground.
Shares of Continental Airlines (CAL Quote) rose 4 cents to $20.78; JetBlue Airways (JBLU Quote) gained 31 cents, or 4.3%, to $7.61; and AirTran (AAI Quote) added 9 cents to $4.68. Delta Air Lines (DAL Quote) shares fell 50 cents, or 4%, to $11.88; United Airlines parent UAL (UAUA Quote) was unchanged at $12.06; American Airlines parent AMR (AMR Quote) lost 11 cents to $11.63; Southwest Airlines (LUV Quote) fell 20 cents to $8.94; and US Airways gained two pennies to $9.08.- Loading Comments...
