Computer Winners & Losers: Dell

Shares of personal computer makers rose Wednesday despite a report from research firm IDC saying it expects U.S. PC shipments to fall next year.

Dell(DELL Quote) had the slightest gain, adding 0.3% to $10.55.

Hewlett-Packard(HPQ Quote) performed better, rising 1.6% to $34.82. Apple(AAPL Quote) rose 3.7% to $95.90.

Elsewhere in the space, chipmaker Intel (INTC Quote) was up 2.9%, and software giant Microsoft (MSFT Quote) climbed 3.8%.
