Airline Winners & Losers: UAL

MINNEAPOLIS -- Airline shares recovered Wednesday afternoon from a morning selloff, with some posting modest price increases as oil prices stayed low.

Oil prices settled at $46.97 a barrel, up 18 cents, on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The Amex Airline Index rose slightly, with six of 13 component stocks trading higher.

Delta Air Lines(DAL Quote) shares rose 27 cents to $8.74. American Airlines parent AMR(AMR Quote) picked up 2 cents to $8.47. United Airlines parent UAL(UAUA Quote) rose 28 cents to $9.92. US Airways Group(LCC Quote) fell 10 cents to $5.90.

Among discount carriers, Southwest Airlines(LUV Quote) fell 3 cents to $8.30 and JetBlue Airways (JBLU Quote) rose 13 cents, or 2.6%, to $5.13.
