Feel Secure With a FreeAgent Hard Drive

LOS ANGELES -- If you are a typical mobile executive, you may have multiple external hard drives and USB flash drives that you carry around with you on the road. But if you could put them all on one drive that is about the size of a paperback book, wouldn't that be more convenient? Enter the FreeAgent XTreme Drive. It has great storage space and it's super fast.

Next up, for those of you who live or travel in wet, windy areas, like Chicago or Seattle, this might be worth lugging around. It's called a Nubrella and unlike a normal umbrella. This one has an almost cocoon-like shape.

Now more about the drive.

Except for a few current documents or media files that I am working on, I don't store anything on my hard drive. No matter what operating system you are on, there are too many things that can go wrong to risk leaving valuable documents or media there.

The FreeAgent XTreme Drive comes in variable capacities (the bigger, the better) and there is a PC and Mac version. The PC version comes bundled with Seagate Manager software (via Win/Vista). It enables automated back up, folder sync and power management. The Mac version comes Time Machine ready.

Along with the small size on this drive (about the size of a paperback) and weighing just 2.20 lb, I also like speed of transfer with this device.

There are three ways to connect and transfer your data, USB 2.0, FireWire 800 or 400 and eSATA. While FireWire is a faster speed of transfer, of note here is the eSATA connection. This is by far the best way to get data, especially multimedia, to and from your drive. The eSATA cable is not included. However, you should be able to pick one up at your retail location.

No matter which way you transfer, 1.5 TB (terabytes) is a great size for storing or backing up your entire hard drive.
