The new program will cost between $250 million and $450 million on a pretax basis in the fourth quarter. Merck said it now projects adjusted earnings in the range of $3.28 to $3.32 a share for 2008, and between $3.45 and $3.55 after items are counted.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are looking for $3.28 a share on revenue of $24 billion. Pharmaceutical company Wyeth (WYE Quote) also announced its earnings Wednesday morning. Eli Lilly (LLY Quote) is due Thursday.- Loading Comments...
