National City (NCC Quote - Cramer on NCC - Stock Picks), crippled by bad real-estate loans, is in talks with a number of banks about a possible sale, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Among the potential buyers for the regional bank are PNC Financial(PNC Quote - Cramer on PNC - Stock Picks) and Toronto-based Bank of Nova Scotia(BNS Quote - Cramer on BNS - Stock Picks). PNC declined to comment Wednesday, and Bank of Nova Scotia couldn't be reached. National City declined to comment, the Journal reports. Shares of National City closed Wednesday at $2.23.
