Quarter's Best Stock Funds Focused on Commodities

Energy and commodity funds clearly outperformed most other categories in the second quarter, yielding impressive returns from 24% to 45% for the three months ended June 30.

The best of these funds was the BlackRock Global Resources Fund (SSGRX - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), returning an astonishing 45.5% for the quarter and 12.52% for the month of June, a coup for managers Daniel Rice and Denis Walsh.

The top holdings in this fund include Consol Energy(CNX - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Massey Energy(MEE - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Arch Coal(ACI - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Plains Exploration & Production(PXP - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Newfield Exploration(NFX - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr).

The top fund on our list was not from the energy sector, but from telecommunications. The ProFunds Mobile Telecommunications UltraSector ProFund(WCPIX - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) is a very concentrated play that invests 30% of its assets in just one company, Sprint Nextel Corporation(S - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr).

There's also a 17% allocation to NII Holdings Incorporated(NII - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and an 8% allocation to Metro PCS Communication(PCS - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr).
