LOS ANGELES -- More and more states are switching to hands-free cell-phone laws, so devices that enable you to talk and drive are plentiful. Gadget Grrl recently tested the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 and gave it a thumbs up on most of its features; see where the gadget falls short. Also, check out this small photo frame that you can easily use for on-the-fly presentations.
The Supertooth 3 speakerphone is about the size of a
DS Lite, and weighing in at a mere
4.05 oz, it's not likely to weigh you down.
It comes with a metal clip that slides on to your visor. There are two magnets on the device that adhere to the metal clip so it's easy to remove and charge.
Speaking of which, charging can be done either via USB on your computer or through
the lighter plug in your car.
What I liked about this speakerphone is that you don't have to look down or up or anywhere in order to press a button to answer or to disconnect a call. The Supertooth 3
works with voice "text to speech" commands to inform you who is calling and you can respond, "ok or reject" depending on whether you want to take the call.
Pairing on this went smoothly, as did the uploading of all of my contacts.
The Supertooth 3 is a great device for identifying and answering your calls. If you are looking to use voice dialing, however, you will need to first set that feature up in your handset.
