Beat the Street: Solar Stocks Shine

TheStreet.com's Beat the Street contest kicked off another week Monday, and PKTTT1 ran his $250,000 seed money up more than 10% to take a $2800 lead.

The all-long portfolio included the ever-popular solar stocks: LDK Solar(LDK Quote); Canadian Solar(CSIQ Quote); China Sunergy(CSUN Quote); Solarfun(SOLF Quote); and Energy Conversion Devices(ENER Quote).

At $273,070, Smile44U stood in second place, followed by Farris727 at $$272,344, Monkey at $271,742 and MarkDeangelo at $271,735 in the top five.

Interestingly, Monkey's gains came on longs of four airline stocks and one ag name: UAL(UAUA Quote); AMR(AMR Quote); Northwest(NWA Quote); Delta(DAL Quote); and Agria(GRO Quote).

Under the rules of the weekly contest, players will be able to switch one of their five stocks between Tuesday's market close and Wednesday's market open.
