One stock has played a big role in this week's iteration of TheStreet.com's Beat the Street contest. Western Refining(WNR Quote), which has climbed 23% this week, is in nine of the top 10 portfolios, including AZaharias, who holds the lead for the second consecutive day.
In addition to that WNR position, AZaharias owns Sunoco(SUN Quote), Alon Energy(ALJ Quote), Tesoro(TSO Quote) and Valero(VLO Quote). That portfolio is now valued at $278,251. Second-place player Abozoglu rose to $277,403 on the strength of shorts of Lehman Brothers(LEH Quote) and Wachovia(WB Quote). Under the rules of the weekly contest, players can swap out one stock before Wednesday's market open. Players looking to find the one stock that can catch them up to the leaders should consider the following articles for new ideas: On Wednesday, after the market open, registered players will be able to go to the Beat the Street Web site and see what stocks the other players have chosen, and all players should keep abreast of the game in the Stockpickr forum. The next Beat the Street game will be held next week, so if you aren't in this week, you're only a few days away from your next chance to play.- Loading Comments...
