Solar stocks shined bright this week, launching A. Swords to victory in Week 6 of TheStreet.com's Beat the Street contest. The whole solar group ramped higher this week on the strength of stubbornly persistent high energy prices.

A. Swords, under the player name "Golfscout8," finished the week with a portfolio value of $333,195.23, and a whopping 33.3% weekly gain.

Over the past few weeks, diversification has proved the difference to taking home the $5,000 cash prize, but not so this week. The whole leader board was locked and loaded with explosive exposure to the solar sector.

Golfscout8 was able to outmaneuver and pick better solar stocks than all of the other players who used the same trading strategy of long-only solar stocks. Remember, there are a lot of solar stocks to choose from. It is not quite as easy as closing your eyes, buying solar stocks, and picking up your check for $5,000.

The winning portfolio boasted long positions in Trina Solar (TSL - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Solarfun (SOLF - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Sunpower (SPWR - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Canadian Solar (CSIQ - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and China Sunergy (CSUN - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr). Other solar stocks in the group that also performed well included JA Solar (JASO - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Yingli Green Energy (YGE - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), LDK Solar (LDK - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Suntech Power (STP - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr).

Congrats to A. Swords on great timing and even better stock-picking!
