McDonald's (MCD - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) said Monday that global comparable-store sales rose 11.7% in February and 8.6% for the year to date.

Systemwide sales for worldwide restaurants increased 19.9% last month, or 13.2% in constant currencies. McDonald's said its sales growth reflects a strong performance across each business segment, as well as a benefit of about 4 percentage points from an extra day due to the leap year.

The hamburger seller said same-store sales climbed 8.3% in the U.S. last month. In Europe, strong results in the U.K., France, Germany and Russia drove comparable sales up 15.4% for the month.

As for the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa, comparable sales advanced 10.9%. Strength in Australia, China, Japan and many other markets drove the segment's overall results.

Know What You Own: McDonald's also competes with the likes of Burger King(BKC - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), Yum! Brands (YUM - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Wendy's (WEN - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr). These stocks were recently trading at $26.34, $35.22 and $23.67, respectively.
