Money for Life: 2008

Turn Class Credits Into Tax Credits

Which means I operated at a loss and have no tax liability.

Since I didn't know about the Lifetime Learning Credit or education-related business deductions (and was exceedingly optimistic about my ability to freelance articles), I'll be getting back more than $1,000.

Not only that, but the government will be paying me -- in addition to my tax refund, I'll be looking forward to a $600 stimulus check.

So this year I've proved the old saying wrong about death and taxes.

For a highly educated worker, there's nothing inevitable about taxes.

Next challenge: immortality.
