Five Businesses You Can Start for Next to Nothing

01/10/08 - 11:52 AM EST

Jeffrey Strain

The key to all of these businesses is that it takes time and effort to establish them. You will not generate a lot of money from day one and it can take quite awhile before some of them start to pay even a little bit. Therefore it is best to begin them on a part-time basis in your spare time while you establish them.

If you are willing to put in the time to learn, work hard and not give up, you can find that a side business can bring in a decent second income, and even a full-time income, after a few years. Side businesses can also bring with them a lot of tax benefits, especially if you work from home.

So take the time to figure out ways to leverage the things that you enjoy into a small business that you can run in your spare time. If you start off slowly and build consistently, you may find that starting a small business is one of the best financial moves you ever made.
