The unofficial start to earnings season will arrive Wednesday, when aluminum giant Alcoa (AA Quote) releases its results.
Though Alcoa's report after the close will make it, as always, the first of the 30 Dow components to report its numbers, it won't be alone. Also due are quarterly recaps from WD-40 (WDFC Quote), Ruby Tuesday (RT Quote), Mosaic (MOS Quote) and Helen of Troy (HELE Quote), just to name a few. The economic calendar is light, featuring only the weekly mortgage applications survey from the Mortgage Bankers Association. On TheStreet.com, Daniel Harrison will examine the stocks that are benefitting from the run-up to the summer games in Beijing, and Pia Sarkar will explain why Wal-Mart (WMT Quote) might emerge as the winner from the holiday shopping season. Also, Gary Krakow will continue his coverage from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.- Loading Comments...
