The blogs, like many of us, have the holiday season on their minds. But the Iowa caucuses are also important and remain a continuing saga. The Jan. 3 caucus will be a make-or-break day for most of the candidates.
Democrats Chris Bowers looks into the rumors that John Edwards secretly holds the lead in Iowa. The poll numbers have had him third for awhile, but it wouldn't surprise me if he does well in Iowa. Michael Schiffer at Washingtonnote.com also notices that Edwards fights hard in Iowa. Will his populist message speak to enough Iowans to win? Scarecrow at firedoglake.com says the debate over health care mandates doesn't really matter. What really needs to happen is a better way to ensure lower costs. Blackhead at redstate.com tries to show who is more ignorant about oil markets: Sen. Hillary Clinton (D., NY) or Blackhead. Clinton said her election would ease oil prices. Blackhead fails to analyze the effect Middle East tensions has on energy markets and that removing American troops could ease tensions in the region. Republicans Jim Geraghty wonders whether Mike Huckabee's chances in Iowa will be hurt by Rush Limbaugh. It seems that Limbaugh went on an anti-Huckabee tirade on his show, and Limbaugh carries weight with conservatives. Eric Kleefeld at talkingpointsmemo.com updates the controversy over whether Mitt Romney's father, George, marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. The new "evidence" doesn't support Romney's claim.
