Friday's Top 10 Political Blogs

12/14/07 - 11:39 AM EST

John Fout

Bloggers haven't had much to say about Thursday's Democratic debates. This is the downside of holding a debate at 1 p.m. As I wrote in my piece today, the debates had more to do with substance than the usual grandstanding seen in most televised debates.

Republicans

Captain Ed wonders when someone will step up and point out that religion has no place in a political campaign. The Constitution does mandate a separation of church and state. Have religious overtones been too strong this election season?

Matt Lewis says liberals fear Mike Huckabee. Lewis predicts that Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson's recent attack on Huckabee will only help the former Baptist minister from Arkansas.

Paul Mirengoff at powerline.com envisions a Mitt Romney-friendly scenario even if Romney happens to lose in Iowa to Huckabee. This theory is based on the idea of a three-person race where Huckabee tops out nationally at 25%.

Jim Geraghty notes that Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul (R., Texas) have moved up in South Carolina. He notices that some bloggers believe Huckabee peaked too soon. I believe Christmas and New Year's will freeze the polls. Now is the time to look good.

Democrats

Eriposte at leftcoaster.com has the most detailed analysis of the Democratic candidates and whom to support if you're a Democrat. His lengthy write-up is well documented and takes some time to digest.
