SAN FRANCISCO -- Wind River Systems(WIND Quote - Cramer on WIND - Stock Picks) beat third-quarter expectations Tuesday but fell short on fourth-quarter earnings guidance.
The Alameda, Calif., software company reported revenue of $81.6 million, up 16% from the same period of last year, when the company posted revenue of $70.5 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were anticipating a top line of $80.4 million. The company posted a loss of $98,000, or break-even on a per-share basis. The loss was narrower than a year earlier, when Wind River had a loss of $672,000, or a penny a share. Excluding items, EPS was 8 cents. Analysts were expecting 5 cents a share. Wind River projected fourth-quarter revenue of $84 million to $86 million and EPS, excluding items, of 7 or 8 cents. Analysts were looking for $85.2 million and EPS of 10 cents. Shares of the maker of software for electronics ranging from aviation to car navigation and entertainment systems were recently down 45 cents, or 4.6%, to $9.34 in after-hours trading.
