When traders arrive at work Monday, the question should be fairly simple: Can the market bounce back from this past week's drubbing?
Continuing worries about credit, troubling comments from the Federal Reserve and historic weakness in the dollar were just a few of the factors that derailed stocks in the last few sessions. Investors won't have much in terms of earnings or economic news to guide them as the week arrives, but no doubt the bulls will be hoping they aren't greeted by any more meltdowns in the financial space. As for earnings, the only names of note on the early side are Blackstone (BX Quote), EchoStar (DISH Quote) and Tyson Foods (TSN Quote). Following the close, it will be 51job (JOBS Quote), Bob Evans (BOBE Quote) and Orbitz (OWW Quote). On TheStreet.com, Ted Reed will examine the pros and the cons of airlines spinning off their frequent-flier programs, and Pia Sarkar will figure out who the winners in the retail sector will be as the greenback continues to weaken. Also, Lawrence Carrel will provide coverage of a case before the Supreme Court that could have a significant impact on the taxes of millions of municipal bond holders in the upcoming installment of Mutual Fund Monday.- Loading Comments...
