Plastic footwear maker Crocs(CROX Quote) was among the Nasdaq's winners Monday, gaining 9.6% after being touted by a small-cap fund manager in a story that ran Sunday on MarketWatch.
"We think there are new product initiatives there that can help sustain the growth," Citizens Small Cap Core Growth fund manager Michael Gallipo said in the interview. Shares gained $4.91 to $56.13. Home improvement retailer Lowe's(LOW Quote) gained 6.1% after an earnings beat, despite warning of weakness ahead. The company earned $1.02 billion, or 67 cents a share, for the quarter ended Aug. 3, up from the year-ago $935 million, or 60 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial sought earnings of 61 cents a share. The stock gained $1.63 to $28.50. Hanover Compressor(HC Quote) gained 3.1% after completing its merger with Universal Compressor Holdings(UCO Quote). Exterran Holdings, the name of the newly combined oil and gas equipment maker, will trade under the symbol EXH on the NYSE. Each common share of Hanover will be converted to 0.325 shares of Exterran, while each Universal share will be converted to one common share of the new company. Hanover shares gained 77 cents to $25.39. Universal stock rose $2.98, or 4%, to $78.25. Agco(AG Quote) edged up 2.3% after the Financial Times reported the farm equipment company would begin importing inexpensive tractors from India to meet rising U.S. demand.
