On the ratings front, analysts at Cantor Fitzgerald upped their price target for Alnylam Pharmaceuticals(ALNY) to $20 from $17. Shares were up 23 cents, or 1%, to $23.40.

On the falling end, Accuray(ARAY), which makes and distributes robotic radiosurgery systems for tumor treatment, lost $4.47, or 25.9%, to $13.32.

The company said Thursday after the close that revenue rose to $44 million from $21.4 million in the year-ago quarter, but it earned $502,000, or one cent a share, compared to a loss of $7.86 million, or 49 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding items, it earned 5 cents a share this quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had expected 3 cents a share.

After deciding not to sell off part of its endosurgery group in July, Boston Scientific(BSX) said Friday that it's now considering the sale of its cardiac surgery, which it acquired in its 2006 Guidant transaction, and vascular surgery businesses, which it acquired when it bought Meadox Medicals in 1995. The cardiac surgery business had revenue of $189 million and the vascular surgery made $86 million last year.

Boston Scientific plans to announce an expense and head count reduction plan in the next quarter. The stock gave up 30 cents, or 2.4%, to $12.44.
