52-Week Highs: Blue Nile(NILE Quote) rose 15.9% to a 52-week high, after the online jewelry retailer beat estimates and guided higher than expected for the third quarter and full year. The company expects to earn between 13 cents and 15 cents a share for the third quarter, above Thomson Financial's estimates of 14 cents a share. For the full year, Blue Nile sees earning of 94 cents to 95 cents a share. Analysts expected 91 cents a share. The stock gained $13 Tuesday to $95.

Biggest % Gainers: HemoSense(HEM Quote) soared 33.8%, after Inverness Medical Systems(IMA Quote) agreed to acquire the blood coagulation monitoring device maker in an all-stock deal worth $167 million. HemoSense shares closed up $3.13 to $12.30.

52-Week Lows: Mobile Mini(MINI Quote) sank 21.8%, after disappointing second-quarter earnings and guiding lower than Wall Street expected for the third quarter. The storage company sees third-quarter earnings of 38 cents to 40 cents a share, below Thomson Financial's estimated 41 cents a share. Mobile Mini lost $6.38 to $22.21.

Biggest % Losers: Luminent Mortgage Capital(LUM Quote) plummeted 75.3%, after the lender said a rash of margin calls led it to call off an earnings conference call slated for Thursday. Shares fell $3.30 to $1.08.

Rising on Unusual Volume: Stanley(SXE Quote), which provides information technology solutions to the defense industry, gained 4.7% on heavy trading Tuesday, despite making no announcements. In trading volume almost six times its three-month average, Stanley gained 96 cents to $21.60.

Latest Activist Situations: Lawrence B. Seidman, who owns 5.8% of Massbank(MASB Quote), requested that the regional bank consider accelerating its share repurchase program, changing its management team and/or a sale. Shares of Massbank fell 32 cents to $32.20.
