Stockpickr Lists: RAIT Financial Claws Back

Biggest Percentage Gainers: After falling to an all-time low of $6.32 on Friday, RAIT Financial(RAS) regained some ground Monday, climbing 58.2%. The real estate investment trust with high exposure to American Home Mortgage, which filed for bankruptcy Monday, closed up $3.68 to $10.00.

52-Week Highs: Ebix(EBIX) gained 8% after the company reported second-quarter profit gains of 67%, sending the stock to a 52-week high. The company, which provides software to the insurance industry, saw net income climb to $2.5 million, or 75 cents per share, compared with $1.5 million, or 48 cents a share, from the previous year. Shares closed $3.39 higher to $44.83.

Rising on Unusual Volume: Fresh Del Monte(FDP) gained 7% on trading four times its three-month average daily volume. The Coral Gables, Fla.-based fruit and vegetable producer increased $1.82, closing at $27.20.

Biggest Percentage Losers: RAM Holdings(RAMR) reported devastating second-quarter results with revenue dropping 25% to $9.1 million, or 33 cents a share. Although the earnings were on par with Thomson Financial's estimates, the stock still fell $5.15 to $6.42.

52-Week Lows: RAM Holdings also sank to a 52-week low.

Latest Activist Situations: Shamrock Activist Value Fund, in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, disclosed a 5.66% stake in NuCo2(NUCO). In a letter, Shamrock suggested the company pay a special dividend of $7 per share and institute an ongoing regular annual dividend of 25 cents per share. Shares closed up 40 cents, or 1.6%, to $25.63.
