Stockpickr Lists: Rural Cellular Hits Big Time

Biggest % Gainers: Wireless provider Rural Cellular soared 34.4% after Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon(VZ Quote) and Vodaphone Group(VOD Quote), agreed to buy the company for $2.67 billion in cash and assumed debt. The acquisition will increase Verizon Wireless' customer base by 700,000. Rural Cellular closed up $10.95 to $42.76.

52-Week Highs: Graham(GHM Quote) surged 32% Monday after the industrial products maker posted first-quarter estimates that shattered expectations. Graham saw sales increase to $20 million from $14.6 million; profits doubled $2.7 million, or 66 cents a share, from $1.1 million, or 28 cents a share. Shares jumped $8.70, reaching a 52-week high of $35.50.

Rising on Unusual Volume: Owens-Illinois(OI Quote) increased 4.5% amid heavy trading volume. The packaging company was up $1.70 to $39.50.

Biggest % Losers: NovaStar Financial(NFI Quote) took a beating along with other home lenders Monday, after American Home Mortgage(AHM Quote) plummeted on word the real estate investment trust suspended its 70-cent per-share quarterly dividends due to margin calls and writedowns. NovaStar was down $3.31, or 20%, to $12.93.

52-Week Lows: Shares of RAIT Financial(RAS Quote) sunk 7% to 52-week low, after the NYSE terminated trading of American Home Mortgage. The Philadelphia-based REIT was down $1.30 to $16.08.

Stocks with Unusual Option Activity: aQuantive(AQNT Quote) was experiencing unusual options activity on Monday, while the stock remained nearly unchanged. The digital marketing company added 9 cents to $66.09.

Latest Activist Situations: Ramius Capital, in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, disclosed a 6.5% stake in Luby's(LUB Quote). In a letter, Ramius expressed its belief that the company is undervalued and urged it to pursue a sale or other option to create value to shareholders. The stock closed down 25 cents, or 2.5%, to $9.91.
