ICU Medical Rises on FDA OK

ICU Medical(ICUI Quote) said Thursday it received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration to market Genie, a device that allows safer access to medical vials.

The device keeps health care workers from the effects of working with or handling chemotherapy drugs. The San Clemente, Calif., company said it's the only cost-effective and easy-to-use device that eliminates aerosols, vapors and leaks from pressurization that occurs when accessing drug vials.

Shares were up $1.90, or 4.7%, to $42.11 in recent trading Thursday.
