Exchange-traded funds tracking the energy sector took a tumble Tuesday, as the price of a barrel of crude tanked more than $2 in the New York futures market.
The Oil Service HOLDRs (OIH Quote) dropped 1.1% to $166.30, and the PowerShares Dynamic Oil & Gas Services (PXJ Quote) ETF fell 0.6% to $24.45. Even harder hit was the iPath Goldman Sachs Crude Oil (OIL Quote) ETF, which plunged nearly 3% to $35.24. The S&P Oil and Gas Exploration and Production (XOP Quote) ETF gave back 0.9% to $45.36. Having a much better session was the PowerShares Dynamic Networking (PXQ Quote) ETF, collecting a 1.7% gain to $19.41. The iShares Goldman Sachs Networking (IGN Quote) ETF climbed 1.2% to $34.17. Elsewhere, the Semiconductor HOLDRs (SMH Quote) was up 0.6% to $36.48, while the Pharmaceutical HOLDRs (PPH Quote) slipped 0.1% to $85.30.- Loading Comments...
