Tuesday's ETF Winners & Losers

Housing-related exchange-traded funds were the best performers of Tuesday's session, thanks to huge gains in individual names.

Among housing concerns, D.R. Horton (DHI Quote) was higher by 3.9%, Beazer Homes (BZH Quote) was climbing 3.4%, Toll Brothers (TOL Quote) added 3.9% and Pulte Homes (PHM Quote) was up 3.6%.

The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Home Construction(ITB Quote) ETF was recently adding 98 cents, or 2.6%, at $37.68. The SPDR Homebuilders (XHB Quote) ETF was up 84 cents, or 2.3%, to $35.79.

The B2B Internet HOLDRs (BHH Quote) ETF was also among the winners of the day as holding Ariba (ARBA Quote) rose 3.6%. The ETF was recently higher by 3 cents, or 1.3%, to $2.22.

Many ETFs in the HealthShares family were also higher. The HealthShares Diagnostics (HHD Quote) was adding 2.1% to $26.28, the HealthShares Autoimmune-Inflammation (HHA Quote) ETF was up 1.8% at $27.15 and the HealthShares Cancer (HHK Quote) ETF was edging higher by 1.1% at $30.05.

On the losing side, bundled securities tracking the energy sector were among the biggest decliners. Recently, crude oil was retreating by 77 cents to $65.50 a barrel.

The United States Oil (USO Quote) ETF was off 48 cents, or 0.9%, to $50.34. The iPath Goldman Sachs Crude Oil Index (OIL Quote) was losing 41 cents, or 1.1%, to $36.78. The PowerShares DB Oil (DBO Quote) ETF eased by 26 cents, or 1%, to $26.52.

ETFs tracking silver and gold were also among the worst performers. Silver futures dipped 12 cents to $12.96 an ounce. Gold futures was falling $1.90 to $661.90 an ounce.

The PowerShares DB Base Metals (DBB Quote) ETF was losing 2.4% to $26.84. The streetTRACKS Gold Shares (GDX Quote) slipped 0.9% to $39.10. The iShares Silver Trust (SLV Quote) was down 1% to $128.90.
