Dykstra: Get a Jolt From Best Buy Options

From an individual standpoint, Barry Bonds is holding at 745 career home runs, and A-Rod has cooled off from a homer standpoint (he has 15), after a torrid April. Josh Beckett continues to pitch magnificently for the Red Sox, as he now owns a 7-0 record and an ERA of 2.66.

But the countdown to the launch of the Rocket in New York has begun in earnest, with the earliest potential date being May 28. Given Roger's propensity for the dramatic, he may wait a few more days, so as to make his initial start against the Red Sox on June 1.

The NHL playoffs, a well-kept secret, find the Buffalo Sabres down 3-1 to the Ottawa Senators, and the Detroit Red Wings leading the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in the battle to make the finals. The NBA playoffs have three series at 3-2, and the Utah Jazz are already in the Western Conference Finals after defeating Golden State 4-1.

The Preakness, the second jewel of horse racing's Triple Crown, will be contested at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore this Saturday. In order to make the third jewel, the Belmont, interesting to the masses, Street Sense will need to win to give us a Triple Crown possibility. Automobile racing, NASCAR, provided an interesting story line last week when Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced he would be leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc. after this season.

Golf had a significant weekend in that Tiger not only did not win, he was a nonfactor in the Tournament Players Championship, the so-called fifth major. Phil Mickelson, reaping the benefits of Butch Harmon's tutelage after only three weeks, won a record $1.6 million for his victory.

Sean O'Hair, paired with Phil in the final round, found himself two strokes down at the dreaded island green, the 17th hole at TPC. But then O'Hair, playing to win, found the water on consecutive shots and subsequently carded a quadruple bogey 7 on the hole. With his bogey on 18, O'Hair plummeted from second to 11th place, losing $742,000 in the process.

In tennis, Rafael Nadal won his 77th consecutive match on clay, reaffirming his status as the overwhelming favorite to win the French Open when it begins in two weeks. In contradistinction, Roger Federer, who was virtually unbeatable this past year, has won only two of the six events he has entered this year. Perplexed with his performance, Federer dismissed his highly respected coach, Tony Roche.

The Players Club recognizes that winning streaks and dominating performances invariably come to an end. Moreover, the dominating performers sometimes fall down on the job. Guaranteed recurring cash flow, through our strategic partner, does not end and never falls down on the job!

Always remember: Life is a journey; enjoy the ride!

At the time of publication, Dykstra was long BBY.

Nicknamed "Nails" for his tough style of play during his Major League Baseball career, Lenny Dykstra was an integral member of the powerful Mets of the mid-1980s, including the world champion 1986 squad, and the Phillies in the early 1990s.

Today, Dykstra manages his own stock portfolio and serves as president of several of his privately held companies, including car washes; a partnership with Castrol in "Team Dykstra" Quick Lube Centers; a state-of-the-art ConocoPhillips fueling facility; a real estate development company; and a new venture to develop several "I Sold It on eBay" stores throughout high-demographic areas of Southern California.
